Newcomer families often have to navigate a complex landscape of displacement, trauma, and separation. This presentation aims to explore how these hardships, while deeply challenging, can also present opportunities for rebuilding family connectedness. Through a series of five key topics, the presentation will address the multifaceted nature of family dynamics during times of crises, offering practical solutions, insights, and tools for professionals and families alike to foster resilience, unity, and long-term well-being.

About the Presenters

Marcos Rosa, LMFT, Founder/Clinical Director
Redeem Wellness Center

Dr. Rosa is the founder and clinical director of Redeem Wellness Center. He is passionate about serving people, especially the underserved and disenfranchised groups. He is an AAMFT Approved supervisor, supervising master student interns and clinicians working towards their licensure. He also teaches systemic theories in graduate programs of Marriage and Family Therapy and have served as core faculty member and educational supervisor for the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Kairos University. Dr. Rosa conducts research with clergies and his group practice serves multiple ethics group delivering therapy in several languages.

Vivian Kannemeyer, LMFT

Vivian Kannemeyer is a bright and brilliant Individual, Marriage and Family Therapist. She studied at Pontificia Universidade Catolica De Campinas, Brazil. where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree and a Full Licentiate Degree in Psychology. She also completed a Professional Improvement Program with emphasis in Medical Psychology at the same university. When the time was right, she returned to school and earned a Master of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy, at Nyack College. Vivian Kannemeyer graduated Honors with Distinction and received the prestigious “Excellence in Clinical Skill Awards- 2019” from the same institution. She was the only student to receive those recognitions in that academic year.

Vivian Kannemeyer is fully licensed by the State of Connecticut, with a certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and she has participated in many events, including the 2023 International Family Therapy Conference in Assisi, Italy. Vivian is also a clinical supervisor pursuing her national certification as an Approved Supervisor by the AAMFT association.

Vivian has experience working with adolescents, couples, and families, in a wide variety of settings. She is full of life and passionate about her profession and the work she does. Her work is focused on contextualizing current life circumstances and past experiences to achieve change, as well as challenging clients to achieve their full potential. She strives to provide each client with an individualized, caring, and unique approach to suit their personal goals.
